2006 Cory Lidle Airplane Crash:
Review the official
NTSB accident investigation report of former New York Yankee
pitcher, Cory Lidle, who was killed along with his instructor in
an airplane crash in New York City on October 11, 2006. His
Cirrus SR20, airplane, tail number N929CD, crashed into the
Belaire Apartments complex on York Ave. at E. 72nd Street on New
York City's Upper East Side, killing Cory Lidle and
co-pilot/flight instructor, Tyler Stanger. In addition to the
deaths of the two on board the airplane, 21 people were injured
as a result of the accident, about half of them New York City
firefighters. The medical examiner stated the cause of death of
Lidle and Stanger was due to "multiple blunt trauma" injuries.
Lidle post mortem toxicology test were negative. Consistent with
the November 3, 2006 preliminary report, the NTSB's May 1, 2007
final hearing determined that "pilot error" caused the plane
crash that killed Lidle and his flight instructor Tyler Stanger.
The investigation was unable to determine which person was at
the controls.

2011 Tucson SafeWay Shootings:
The 2011 Tucson shooting, also known
as the Tucson Safeway shooting,
occurred on January 8, 2011, in
Tucson, Arizona, USA. During a
"Congress on Your Corner" event held
by U.S. Representative Gabrielle
Giffords outside a supermarket, a
gunman opened fire, resulting in six
deaths and numerous injuries,
including Representative Giffords
herself. Among those killed were
federal judge John Roll, 9-year-old
Christina-Taylor Green, and Giffords'
aide Gabe Zimmerman. Representative
Giffords was critically injured but
survived the attack after undergoing
extensive medical treatment and
rehabilitation. The perpetrator,
Jared Lee Loughner, was apprehended
at the scene and later charged with
multiple federal crimes. His motives
were subject to much speculation,
but investigations suggested he
suffered from mental illness. The
Tucson shooting sparked debates
about gun control laws, mental
health treatment, and the need for
civil discourse in politics. It also
led to increased security measures
for politicians and public figures.

of the deadliest school shootings in
U.S. history at the time. Two senior
students, Eric Harris and Dylan

Platte Canyon High School Hostage
Crisis:
The
Platte Canyon High School hostage
crisis occurred on September 27,
2006, in Bailey, Colorado, USA. A
lone gunman, identified as Duane
Roger Morrison, entered the school
and took six female students hostage
in a classroom. Morrison was armed
with a handgun and explosives. He
released four of the hostages but
kept the other two, later identified
as Emily Keyes and Tracy Murphy. Law
enforcement agencies responded
swiftly, surrounding the school and
initiating negotiations with
Morrison. However, after several
hours, Morrison began to show signs
of agitation, and the situation
escalated. Ultimately, Morrison
fatally shot Emily Keyes before
turning the gun on himself. The
incident shocked the community and

safety measures and crisis response
protocols. Emily Keyes' parents
founded the "I Love U Guys"
Foundation in her memory, which
focuses on school safety and crisis
response training. Review

West Memphis Three Killings:
Review the autopsy reports of
Christopher Byers,
Steve Branch, and
James Michael Moore, who were three friends found murdered
in a drainage canal in the Robinhood Hills neighborhood of West
Memphis, Arkansas.
The
boys' bodies were mutilated and left in a ditch, hogtied with
their own shoelaces.
Three individuals,
Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley, known as
the "West Memphis Three," were convicted of killing the three 8
year-old boys. Prosecutors argued the men who were convicted,
teenagers at the time, were driven by satanic ritual and that
Echols had been the ringleader. Also, there was no evidence that
directly link the men to the murders at that time. Baldwin and
Misskelley were sentenced to life sentences; while Echols was
given the death penalty.
In a twist of justice on August 10, 2011, Damien Echols, Jason
Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley were allowed to change their plea
to "no contest" and were sentenced to 18 years and 78 days
behind bars, which is time served thus far. The men
accepted a bargain known as an "Alford
Plea" in which means the
defendants acknowledge officially that the state has evidence
against them, but can continue to claim their innocence
in exchange for an 18-year sentence and
credit for time served. Read the original
